Announcing the arrival of another DeLay!!!  Amy gave birth to a 8 lb 14 oz 22 inch baby boy at 9:24 pm Thursday October 2nd.  Mom and baby are doing well.

Writing Congress about issues that you care about can be surprisingly effective.  I was absolutely astonished the first few times I wrote my Congressman when I got a very personalized response addressing the issues I had written about and answering specific questions that I had.

You're ability to influence decisions in our government is a cornerstone of the American way.  All elected officials know that if you take the time to carefully write a letter and snail-mail it to their office, you are very likely to take the time to go to the poll and vote! (With the advent of Diebold the efficacy of such and effort is debatable, but that's a topic for another day)

With all the heated politics in the news and the approaching election, it's easy to let our troops slip to the back of our minds.

Please take a few moments and send them a note thanking them for their sacrifice and dedication.  Regardless of your political affiliation and/or your feelings about the war, the men and women of our armed forces risk their lives day after day for us.  The Vietnam war was a tragedy on many levels.  How the general public treated our veterans was one of the foremost.

If you have unused programs on your computer that need to be removed, you should give Revo a try.

Revo is a free program uninstaller that has many features that it's expensive commercial couterparts tout proudly.  Revo also has some nice features that the standard windows uninstall does not.  Revo can Search for and clean up pieces missed by standard un-install programs.   Got an icon in your taskbar or an app that runs that doesn't show up in Add/Remove programs?  Revo has a "Hunter Mode" to help you in removing these pesky programs.

I am not exactly a fan of Craftsman products, but I must admit to owning several pieces of their equipment.  I have also occasionally purchased something from both a local Sears store or online.  I've found purchasing things online to be rather convenient at times, especially if I'm not in a hurry.  Sears offers a service where you can order items online for in-store pickup, a particularly handy feature.

Unfortunately, I was ALARMED to find Sears pushing software to my computer that was publishing ALL of my internet traffic un-encrypted to a 3rd party.  Every visit I made to my bank account online, my passwords, account information, my e-mail...all internet traffic was suddenly being packaged up and broadcast over the internet.  This was bad enough, but what's even worse is the traffic was NOT encrypted or protected in any way.  I was never given a notice saying anything like this was happening. 

UK Consumer group Which? conducted the test that showed keyboards may actually be dirtier than a toilet seat:

Out of 33 keyboards swabbed, four were regarded as a potential health hazard and one harboured five times more germs than one of the office’s toilet seats.
